ok, it's been a nice long break from my project. it's time to start it back up and finish it. for those of you wondering about my previous thread, you can find it here. this thread is going to be for the work i do from now till finishing it. the other forum won't get this privileged info. ;D so, to start, i thought i'd post a pic of what it currently looks like, before i start work up again. sorry it's kinda blurry. i was tired at the time i took it and my batteries were dying. be looking for more updates!

Woo you're finishing it? Sweet. I'm not much of a fan of pink, but I gotta admit it looks pretty sweet with the RD's blue controls. It is a nice touch. How're you doing your decals?

How're you doing your decals? i always planned to finish it, i just took a much needed break before my frustration caused me to make a huge mistake. the only reason there is hot pink on it is cuz it's my fav color and it's gonna be my "signature" of sorts for my portables. at least for the portables i make for me by me alone... i ordered my decals from herebtw, don't tell anybody on the benheck forums about it. i want to suprise them with the "bam! i'm finished! booya!" thread. hehe!

I like how it looks. It's just plain awesome-sauce.
Don't worry. I don't think they care about this place. I linked to Tib's compatibility list, and I don't think anyone bothered to look at it. Suppose it's a good thing.

well, i started back on it today... *sigh...* a lot has happened to it over the past 1.5 months or so. many wires have come undone from all the moving around. many cracks formed on the surface of the front. and a lot of dust gathered. but it was time for me to start wrapping this project up. the only thing i was able to do today was cut a space for the screen to fit properly and to fix the cracks that showed up on the front. it was very stupid of me to leave the screen screwed in for my entire hiatus. i was completely aware that the top of the screen was making contact with the case and causing tension... see, the board is overlapping the lip of the case... after today's work: most of the lip has been shaved down... still need to do a bit more tho the front of the case is close to good as new. i just need to respray a few clear coats after sanding a lot of it off. so, basically, i didn't get much accomplished today... but at least i worked on it! and in case you were wondering, here's what all 3 pieces look like as of this moment: even tho the nes cart slot cover looks pretty nice from that distance... trust me... it's not.

Did some of your speaker wires break while it was in storage? It doesn't look connected all the way. What's that long cord for?

Did some of your speaker wires break while it was in storage? It doesn't look connected all the way. What's that long cord for? yeah, the positive wires on both speakers broke off with all the handling i had to do while fixing the front. very easy to fix tho. the long cord is simply the controller as of right now. much easier to test in this state. simply plug it into the system. don't worry, i'll solder the wires to the actual spots and the wires will be much shorter when i'm done.

i was able to work a bit today on the nes cart slot cover. it actually looks worse right now in pictures, but it's really much better. here are some before and after shots. this picture doesn't show the badness very well... the primer was constantly cracking. this pic shows the faults a little better. this is the best pic of the awfulness of the nes cart slot cover before. i sanded it back down a lot and reapplied more epoxy. the inside before. note the hot glue. big mistake. it was the hot glue that was causing the constant cracking in the primer on the front. i ripped all the hot glue out and filled it in with epoxy stick. now i should actually be able to get somewhere with this portion. i need to reapply a few coats of spot putty and then primer. hopefully i can get it all looking nice in not too long.

At least it's a technique where your hard work definitely pays off.
