BATTERIES:It really does run off 3 AA's. I'll be figuring out the draw in the near future. The battery compartment is a pain in the rumpus. The door is very tight and hard to open. The third battery fits down in a small hole under the other two. This hole is too small to easily use. I have to use pliers to get my battery out.
SCREEN:Small, but very clear. I have no trouble making out all the fine printing in the copyrights. The text is actually easier to read on this than on my NES. It's backlight, and I have no trouble seeing it at all.
SOUND:Pretty decent, and although it look like your hands would muffle it, they actually don't. Only one speaker on the inside, the one under the d-pad. I haven't noticed any sound differences between this and the NES yet.
CARTRIDGE SLOT: The cart only goes in about an inch. Not very far. The label must be facing you, although the game will insert either way. The slot's tight. You kind of have to wrestle to get the game out, which is annoying, since the whole thing's so small. It can be kind of finicky. Games that worked fine on the NES have had to be cleaned.
BUTTONS:Yeah, they're swapped, but so what? It's really not difficult at all to accommodate that. I'm not going to bother swapping them back. I've had no trouble at all with them being backwards.
TV OUT: No complaints there. I'd only use that if I was on the road. Otherwise, it's the console for me, hands down.
COMFORT:Very easy to hold on to. Thickness is nice for me. No complaints at all. I've yet to try a marathon session, so I'm not sure how well the long-term is, but short-term, it's great.
